The Toledo Ballet is proud to announce this morning that the broadcast of WGTE Presents: Toledo Ballet 79th Annual Nutcracker, which aired on WGTE TV on December 24, 2019, was nominated for an Emmy® Award by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Lower Great Lakes Chapter (NATASLGLC). The program produced by WGTE Public Media was nominated in the Arts/Entertainment – Program/Program Feature/Special category.

“On behalf of the Toledo Ballet, congratulations to WGTE for the Emmy® nomination! We are so proud of WGTE and proud to collaborate with such a storied organization in the Toledo community,” says Lisa Mayer-Lang, Artistic Director of the Toledo Ballet. “All of us at the Toledo Ballet are ecstatic that the Nutcracker performance is a part of that. Thank you to our entire team, including dancers, musicians, directors, producers, crew, and all who made this such a beautiful production for our television audiences. Special thanks to Courtney Clark and the incredible team at WGTE for making it come together so beautifully.”

The performance in 2019 was a collaboration between artistic leadership of the Toledo Ballet and Toledo Symphony as well. Toledo Symphony Music Director Alain Trudel joined the production for his first time leading the orchestra in Toledo Ballet’s Nutcracker.

“It was a joy to have Alain join us for this production,” reminisces Mayer-Lang. “It’s like a family reunion. Everyone’s together.”

WGTE Presents: Toledo Ballet 79th Annual Nutcracker will air again on WGTE TV, your local PBS affiliate, this Sunday, May 10 at 6 PM.
