Toledo Ballet Announces Masterclasses with World-Renowned Dancer Renato Penteado

World-renowned dancer and former Toledo Ballet Principal Guest Artist Renato Penteado joins Toledo Ballet for special masterclasses to be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 4:15-6:00 PM and Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 11:00-12:45 PM and 1:00-2:30 PM at Toledo Ballet.

MASTERCLASS INFORMATION:

Friday, November 22, 2019
4:15-6:00 PM - Intermediate/Advanced Ballet (Toledo Ballet Levels 5+ and level 4 students with permission from the Artistic Director) This class is $35 for Toledo Ballet students and $45 for students not currently enrolled at Toledo Ballet.

Saturday, November 23, 2019
11:00 AM-12:45 PM – Intermediate/Advanced Level Ballet (Toledo Ballet levels 5+) This class is $35 for Toledo Ballet students and $45 for students not currently enrolled at Toledo Ballet.

1:00-2:30 PM – Partnering (Toledo Ballet levels 5+) This class is $25 for Toledo Ballet students and $35 for students not currently enrolled at Toledo Ballet.

Toledo Ballet students interested in participating in all three masterclasses receive a discounted rate of $90 and students not currently enrolled receive a rate of $110.

Originally from São Paulo Brazil, Penteado began his dance training at the age of seven with Ballet Twin’s Academy and Studium Marisa Ballet.

He has performed many lead roles in the Balanchine repertoire, including Donizetti Variations, Symphony in C, Tarantella, Ballet Imperial and Tchaikovsky’s Pas de Deux to name a few. Additionally, Penteado has performed in Jerome Robbin’s Fancy Free, Dances at a Gathering, In the Night, as well as Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs in the Upper Room and the Golden Section. He has performed the lead roles in Don Quixote, Giselle, and Edward Villella’s The Neighborhood Ballroom among many others. In 2011, together with the Miami City Ballet, Penteado performed in the dance festival, “Les Etes De La Danse” in Paris, France, where the company danced for three weeks at Theatre du Chatelet.

In 2004, Penteado joined the Miami City Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet and was promoted to Principal Dancer shortly after. He has served on the faculty of Miami City Ballet during various summer programs and has taught numerous Summer Intensive Classes for Toledo Ballet. In 2016, Penteado won the nomination of Dance Magazine’s Readers Choice Award for Best Male Performance. Penteado recently retired as a Principal Dancer with Miami City Ballet and is now teaching full-time at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.
